I have some old smartphones, could I use them as secondary webcames?

So I have a lot of smartphones that aren't being used, and I was thinking about using them for something. I heard a while back, that you can modify an old phone to be a webcam. I had an idea of making a couple webcams out of an old smartphone. I want to use one to be a webcam for my cat, as I think it'd be cute to stream with him in a little video box on the stream.

As well, I'd like to add another webcam stream to the stream, but don't know what it would be. Any suggestions?

The other day I saw a video where they demo how to do this. Oh, so silly, i can't find it now. But yes, the guy said to just use some old phones as alternative cameras. That way if a cam breaks during stream he has a lower res backup one. And usually for the smaller picture in pic overlay the quality is still sharp enough.

Plus if you have say 2 or 3 extra phones as cams for a stream in obs scenes you can use them as temporary alternative angles.

A thing to note; phones aren't made to stream their cams 24/7, so a few hours can cause potential heat issues. Make sure to keep that in mind.
