Who doesn't like free stuff, amirite? If you guys have links to any free (legal) music, post it here!

Here's a link to get this thread started off:

Free Metal Albums - A big collection of free albums that span not only metal, but alternative, ambient, folk, rock, and many others. Updated regularly, and just huge. I mean, this site is ENORMOUS.

if there is anyone who uses torrents, this is a great site for finding lots of free metal albums, most are unsigned bands promoting there own music, but a great site if your into underground metal http://www.psychocydd.co.uk/

Nice. That's a great link, I've started to use it quite frequently in the past few months. Thanks for sharing.

They've got a lot of obscure stuff on there too.

I don't download free music, but I listen to music free while I work at school or on homework.

    Check out Grooveshark (google it).

    Also,

Death to Music - A net label dedicated to a variety of underground genres including industrial, black metal, etc. Lots of great stuff. A couple years ago you had to subscribe via email to get the download links, however now all the releases are available right off the site. Highly recommend a lot of these bands.

So there's a festival called SXSW, which showcases independent artists of all sorts of genres. On their site they allow free previews of music by these artists, and recently a torrent was released that contains all of the free "preview" songs, numbering about 750 in all. The torrent itself is almost 5gb large, and it's free to download. If you're interested in discovering new tunes, here's your chance!

Oh yeah, and here's another resource for discovering new tunage. Bandcamp allows artists to sign up (for free) and sell their music at whatever price they want. The majority of the artists usually allow free download of their material, or they let you pay whatever you want for it (even if it's $50 or a penny. Or even if it's nothing at all). The genres are across the spectrum. Hip-hop, indie rock, extreme metal, electronic, it's all there.

Very very nice! Could be an awesome way to find new bands that haven't been too tainted by mainstream.
