ok so the eagles lost tonight do that mean they are booted out of the playoffs in football b/c i only know how the NBA playoffs work and it's like the best of 7 or w/e....so if the cowboys (that's my team) lose next week do that mean they are booted out....also how can the team 'decline' a penalty -- does that mean it don't count and can't they do that anytime they get one then? ty.

Eagles are out, if Cowboys lose next weekend then they are out too. You only get one chance in the playoffs!

Nope the Eagles are out girl! So the Cowboys advance to the next round and if they win they go further, if they lose they are out. Also when a team declines the penalty it means that taking the penalty would hurt there chances worse than accepting the penalty. Depends on the yards and the downs.

yea, the eagles and cowboys have to play until the cowboys win 3 more games. lolpenalties: you only take a penalty if it helps you. if you don't need the "help" you decline it.

Playoffs, single elimination, you lose, your done. Best of 1. One game to show who is the better team.Penalties -usually a team declines a penalty if the play resulted in a touchdown or there are tqo penalties on the play. The team that the penalty is against has no say, whoever benefits from the foul gets to choose wether to accept it or not. Reasons why you would decline:1. Accepting would mean getting rid of the play, possibly taking away a large gain or touchdown2. Or there are 2 or more penalties on the play, and that one would give them less yards than the other.(and oh, BTW, your team will have a hard time next week against Favre and my Vikes :) )

To answer your first question: the playoffs have the wild card, semi finals, finals, and superbowl. Each round is one game and who ever losses is booted out. The playoffs start with 12 teams goes to 8 teams after the wild card then 4 teams after the semi finals and 2 teams after the finals those final 2 teams go to the super bowl where who ever wins is the champions. So yes if the Cowboys lose next week they are out of the playoffs. To answer your second question: Only certain penalties can be declined and the coach can decline those penalties whenever they occur. The reason behind declining certain penalties is like this:It's 3rd and 10 and the offense is called for a penalty that is able to be declined but during the play they only gain 5 yards so if you accept the penalty it will then be 3rd and 15 because the play doesn't count and it would remain 3rd down. If you were to decline the penalty it would bring up 4th and 5 and would force the other team to punt, attempt a field goal, or go for it on 4th down. That is only one example but that is the reason why a team would decline a penalty about 95% of the time. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is always win or go home. 1 loss means you are out, this is because they only play 1 game a week.Tomorrow there are 2 games of division leaders, those winners play to days winners(Jets and Cowboys) Next week for the league Championship, then 2 weeks to the Super bowl. Declining a penalty is the choice of the offended team, is a 5 yard penalty is on a 30 yard play ,they take the 30 play. An Offensive play is declined if the play fails because doing it over might work and the offense gets another play,so an offensive fowl on 3rd down will force a punt on 4th down.

The NFL consists of 2 Conferences, NFC - National Football Conference & AFC - American Football Conference.

When the playoffs start, each conference has their wild card and inter-conference playoffs. The winner of each conference go to the Super Bowl.

Many times in the past there has been the situation of the 2 best teams in the NFL being in the same conference. That is why the best game is either the NFC or AFC championship game and the Super Bowl is dull, dull, dull. Nothing worse that a total blowout game in the big one.
