Nearby Super-Earth May Be A Waterworld

A rocky and water-rich planet, not much heftier than our own, has been discovered so close to our solar system that astronomers one day may be able to study its atmosphere.

Well that's that settled then... no more trying to fix this planet, may aswell just recolonise over there... sorted.

Cool find though, I remember a scientific theory that each planet in the solar system is kept in orbit by the gravitational balance of each successive planet further away from the sun than it.. meaning theoretically there is a large string of planets extending a lot further than the original 10 we currently know exist in the solar system.

Hells Bells Man! That would mean if just one piece of the vast puzzle of the universe were to take a detour, it would FUBAR the whole thing.

You are just trying to freak me out.

I'm going to name the new planet after my wayward cat....Fugghoff.

Dont celebrate just yet. Could be home to an advanced race of super monkeys as well.

That shoot Lazors thru their eyes.

If it has water and atmosphere, I'll take my chances with the super monkeys.

They will flee when they see my smoker grill.

Well, they say it doesn't orbit in the "Goldilocks" zone. I'm assuming that means it gets impacted daily by cosmic debris.

Re: Nearby Super-Earth May Be A Waterworld

No, it means it's too close to the sun.

I find it funny that they're so sure that there's a form of water on the planet, though. Considering it took us ages to figure out if there's water on Mars.
It's a good looking planet. 3 our 4 requirements fit. But the mass of the planet would mean a bitch of a gravity. If we ever get colonists there they'd look like dwarves after a few years. :p
Another problem, of course, is the heat.

Still, we're getting there, slowly. And maybe with the technology of the future we might be able to turn it into a suitable colony.
