Do you like to have open sourced forum software or Closed.

    Heres the difference:

Open source is where you have the flexibility to customize it the way you want without the limitations of copyright or Closed sourced scripting

Pros: You have the freedom to customize it the way you want. But if you arent great at coding it will be a let down for you begininers.

Cons: You are more likely to have Security breaches (i.e. Back doors open.

Having alot of bugs to deal with.

Closed source / Perpriatary You have limitations on what you are able to edit if anything at all. Completly controlled by the Developer.

Still lost? Take Apple IOS vs Android ---> the interesting part is they both are running off the same base platform which is Linux.

    Tell us what you think?

They are a bit, yes. Wiki programs aren't at all that active anymore.

Open source forums are really hard to find from scratch, but you see MyBB and phpBB a lot. Both open source.

Wow, a huge increase? That's something I need to look into and see what's going on with Wiki.

Well more and more people and community devlopers are making them derived arouund the forum software and they seem to be active when that is being done. Forum developers such as VB and XEN are implementing it in their forum software.
