    Pazaak Den General Guidelines.

Please read the following carefully before you start posting here!

ONLY ADMINISTRATORS may open new threads in the Active Roleplay Out Of Character areas. Moderators please do not open new RPs without clearing it with one of your admins first.

Rogue Forums Guidelines apply to ALL areas of this board. Please read them if you have not done so already.

    BASIC ROLEPLAYING ETIQUETTE:

The Game Masters (GMs) are responsible for enforcing the rules in their own RPs, but I've found keeping the following basic etiquette in mind help make a better roleplaying environment:

DO NOT SPAM the RPG area. If you want a part in an RP, go to New Roleplay Ideas and Casting Calls and see what's available, or if the RPG is already started, go to Private Tables to find the game you want and ask the GM there.

Work as a team. Check the OOC thread for the RP you are participating in regularly. People get lost and fall behind all the time - we're human, it happens. But instead of just posting something without being sure of where you are supposed to be, take the time to read up and get yourself up to date. Ask your GM or fellow players for help if you need it.

Stick to the plotline. Don't make changes to the story without consulting the GM first. Godmodding and plot hijacking is strongly discouraged, and staff members will act on it if the GM asks for help.

Work it out. Settle disputes like adults and make an effort to get along with your fellow RP-ers. The GM reserves the right to "fire" players, although I would hope that that doesn't happen unless the RP itself is suffering from problems created by another player.

Participate! Don't sit around waiting to be told what to do... take the initiative and give your characters life. People who take on two or three characters and then don't do anything with them are only serving to hinder the RP. It's the GM's job to direct and guide you, not to do everything for you.

One-liners are a pet peeve of mine. That's really up to the GM's to enforce, but IMO, it's just not fair for one player to spend half an hour writing up a beautifully detailed post, and the next to respond with a single sentence. Also, hundreds of one-liner posts coming in at the same time will bog down the site and annoy the server. We have to be nice to the server, because the tech monkeys aren't getting paid for this.

Botting or borrowing another player's character should not be done without their permission, unless the player has pulled a disappearing act, or is determined by the GM to be hindering the progress of the RP. I think it's okay to describe say the facial expressions or minor actions of another character when interacting with them. But be nice... don't make them pick their nose in public or anything equally gross or embarassing.

NEVER EVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES should you kill, disfigure or permanently maim someone else's character without speaking to both them and the GM first. Do not hack off limbs in a lightsaber battle, or put out an eye just because you think it would be cool. It's rude and shows a lack of respect for other players.

Original characters belong to their creator. You MAY NOT use someone else's OC without their express permission. There's a word for passing off someone else's work as your own - plagiarism.

Explicit sexual content and/or obscene language is NOT permitted. Period.

Your GM is in charge. These forums are moderated, but your GM has The Power:
    • GMs have the right to add or remove players and make storyline changes or adjustments during the course of the RP.
    • GMs have the right to refuse requests for participation, and veto any plot changes made by players.
    • GMs have the right to assign duties to one or more of their players to act as assistants. Let's try to keep this to a minimum, though, just to avoid confusion.
    • GMs have the right to cancel or postpone their own RPG at any time, without notice or forewarning. Please send a PM to myself or Supercapo if you would like your RP closed or put on hold.
In short, the GM has the final word. Rogue Forums staff will always back the GM, provided he or she is not behaving inappropriately or violating Rogue Forums Guidelines. If you have a problem with that, don't sign on for the RP.

Questions, comments or concerns can be addressed by private message, or you can stop by the Manager's Office and post a message in Getting Started.

All that being said, have fun!

    Re: Pazaak Den General Guidelines.

    A small update...

Please do not advertise in this forum. If you're hosting an RPG on another site and would like to invite your Rogue friends, you are free to do so by PM or email. This area should not be used for advertising, or recruiting for other forums.

Name Dropping is the only place other forums or websites are to be advertised.

    Thanks!
