Those That Were Forgotten: Archived Posts

After the Jedi Civil war barely a hundred Jedi survived. The massacre on Kataar further decimated their ranks. Those that survived switched off their lightsabers and went into hiding. This is the story of those Jedi. How they survived in a Galaxy that did not need or want Jedi.

Two Jedi Knights find one another during this time of darkness and team up together to find others to help with survival. They are joined by Jedi and others all with different motives. Will they restore the Order, will they turn one another in for bounties? What destiny lies in wait for the Forgotten Jedi?

    Re: Those that were Forgotten

Okay I'll start off (because Supercapo made me).

The two guards walked past as Keyan's breath caught in his throat. His fingers brushed the cool durasteel of his lightsabres in consideration. He did not want this to come to a firefight. Regardless of his friend, Artorus D'Uther, insisting that blaster shot scars were a hit with the ladies, Keyan never considered it to be a positive cost benefit ratio.

Instead, he drew into the Force, allowing himself to merge with the room and all that lay within. Including the guards. Including the minds of the guards. From there, it was a simple matter to make a suggestion in their brains that, perhaps, level twenty two needed a more thorough examination? After all, it was not like this level was in any danger. Who would be stupid enough to launch an attack on the crimelord's personal quarters?

Breathing a sigh of relief, Keyan exited the cupboard that had been his hiding spot. His particularly cramped hiding spot, to be specific. He approached the desk in the centre of the room. If those launch codes were anywhere, this would be it. Still, determining their location was the easy part. Disabling the forcefield and bypassing the alarm would be altogether much trickier. For a moment, he wished Artorus were here to help him. He would have no trouble hacking through this equipment. But then again, Art would be much more likely just to rip the whole desk apart through the Force and claim the alarms would make things more fun. Now that he thought of it, Keyan didn't wish Art were here.

Accessing the security console on the wall, Keyan tortured himself for a few moments, trying to remember what he had learned about security systems from his friends. After enough bits and pieces had come back to him, he got to work.

When the forcefield finally dropped, the only thing that alerted Keyan to the passage of time was the stiffness in his legs. Evidently, dealing with computers was still not one of his strengths. Still, allowing himself a small smirk of victory was not, he thought, entirely unbecoming of a young Jedi Knight.

Retrieving the datapad containing the launch codes, Keyan was alerted from his mental self praise by an odd whirring noise, coming from the general direction of the window. As he approached it, the whirring grew louder and louder, soon to an almost unbearable level. Reaching into the Force again, he felt...something...something large...approaching the window at an altogether far to quick a pace for comfort.

Keyan threw himself to the floor just as the swoopbike smashed through the window, sending glass shards flying, and coming to a rapid halt. Before Keyan even had time to ask himself the all important question: "What the hell was that?", a man jumped down from the seat. Keyan looked up and caught a glimpse of the man's face.

"Oh you have got to be kidding me." He thought, as the face of Artorus D'Uther broke into a grin.

    Artorus

I wiped the grim from my goggles so I could see better. The swoop was ruined. That much I could see. If I hadn't taken that last blast I wouldn't have crashed altogether. But it seemed that the Force had a strange joke to play on me. Of all the offices I could crash into in all of Coruscant...none other than Keyan Kyral was inside.

"Keyan!" I laughed, jumping to my old friends side and slapping him on the back. "What in blazes are you doing here!?"

I barely noticed all the alarms ringing now. I gave Keyan a once over. Hair was slightly longer...slightly darker but still plenty blonde, his beard had finally come in. He'd been working on it for ages but finally it was lookign respectable. He was the very picture of a Jedi Knight. What the hell was wrong with him? Didn't he know that there was a bounty on Jedi? I sighed it was just like Keyan to ignore the dangers of the Galaxy in favor of keeping up an ideal. I decided to ignore it...besides who was I to lecture someone on what was appropriate. My eyes strayed for a second to the package I had in the remains of the swoop...best to ignore that for now as well.

"What has it been? Three years? You look like you've put on ten!"

    Re: Those that were Forgotten

Mouth gaping not unlike the Colo Claw fish of Naboo, Keyan stared at the Jedi, using the loosest possible sense of the word, before him.

"What...the...what the hell are you doing?" Was all Keyan could say.

"What, no hug? I'm hurt." Artorus joked. Keyan could not help but roll his eyes. Three years and the man was still joking around. Not that there was anything wrong with joking, but there was a time and a place. Preferably a place other than a crimelord's home, at a time where alarms were not blazing and there were no Mandalorian swoop riders heading directly for the building.

"Art? Why are those Mand-" Keyan was cut off by Artorus' blaster ringing out several plasma shots as the man ducked behind the remains of his vehicle.

"Sorry, have to play catch up later, guess these guys were afraid I'd leave without a goodbye kiss!" His lightsabre, guided by the Force, sprang to his free hand, sky blue flame sparking from the tip, deflecting the Mandalorian blaster fire back towards them.

As the security doors locked down behind them, Keyan saw no way of escaping. As his own lightsabres jumped to his hands, emitting their own bars of emerald green and began deflecting fire as well, Keyan noted for a moment that three years away from Art had been relatively peaceful. Three seconds with Art and he was once again waist deep in chaos.

    Re: Those that were Forgotten

    Silus

Of all the days I could have picked to land in the west-sky district of Coruscant, it had to be the one when Coruscant Security Forces were doing a sweep and locked down all airtraffic. Basically, I had a perfectly good G-Wing shuttle that I could always rely on to get me off of a hostile planet, and now it was absolutely worthless! I supposed it could have been worse, for all I knew some bounty hunter could have figured out who I was. Whoever put that blasted bounty on Jedi had better have had a good excuse to do it.

All this was not important at the moment as I needed to focus on getting those blasted launch codes so I could get out of this stupid system. I wasn't the biggest fan of Coruscant, I always felt crowded there. I was just about finished picking the lock to the crimelord's office when everything went to Sith-spit. First, there was an odd crash that sounded just like the window of the office being smashed in by a swoop-bike. Then, there were the all too familiar sounds of blasters being fired, followed by the clang of the security doors locking down. I growled to myself as I pulled out my lightsaber.

"I really hate it when things don't go my way," I muttered as I stabbed the black lightsaber blade into the door.

I began to focus on the blade through the Force, making it hotter and hotter. As it did, the door began to slowly melt and make an opening for me to enter. As I stepped into the office I wanted to moan in exhasperation. Not only was I the only one seeking the launch codes it seemed, but I was currently in the middle of an insane firefight between several Mandalorian mercs and two Jedi. And even worse, one of these Jedi just happened to be the infamous Artorus D'Uther. I wondered for the thousandth time if the Force had some kind of grudge against me?

    Artorus

I blinked at the sight of a lightsaber coming through the door. One look at Keyan's face told me this guy wasn't with him. I would have taken more time to check this guy out but I was busy deflecting blaster fire from Mandalorians. These guys were better than the last group...or maybe I was just so distracted by the fact that Keyan was here and...

"So...is there a Convention that I'm not aware of?" I said. I took a glance at my swoop clothing. "And here I left my Jedi cloak in my other swoop! I always go to these Jedi Cons' dressed wrong! Keyan make me promise that I won't blow all my savings on Cay Qel Droma action figures! I had to con an entire toydarian pleasure cruise to make that money back the last time."

I pulled a thermal detonator from one of my pouches and flipped it at the mandalorian's carrier outside of the building. The explosion happened almost immediately...and threw everyone off of their feet. I crashed into the swoop that lay burning in a heap. My hand found the saddle pouch and the small package it contained. It was stashed away by the time I was off the ground, my ears ringing.

"Congratulate me gentlemen," I grinned. "I've solved our mandalorian problem."

    Re: Those that were Forgotten

    Keyan

"Solved our problem by killing the whole damn group of them." Keyan replied, dusting ash from his sleeve. True, he didn't like Mandalorians, particularly ones who were trying to kill him when he hadn't done anything to deserve it, but Art's eagerness to resort to lethal force always disturbed Keyan.

Picking his way over the wreckage to see if there were anyway to salvage the launch codes, his eye caught the newcomer. His long white hair seemed to grant him a certain sense of dignity, yet there was something about that black sabre that the younger man found off putting. Why did some members of the Order have to choose such...un-Jedi colours for their sabres?

Returning his own blades to his belt, Keyan looked back and forth between the newcomer and Artorus. The newcomer at least, seemed to recognise Art.

"So. Would anyone like to introduce me to our new friend?"

I let out a low groan as I got to my feet and dusted off my dark-gray robes. Shaking my head, I crossed my arms over my chest.

"The stories about you are true it seems," I growled at Artorus. "You're as impulsive, thick-headed, and all around immature as a Padawan just entering his teens.

Now, before Coruscant Security arrives, I need to ask one thing," I continued. "Do either of you have the launch codes to get off this Force forsaken hunk of rock, or will I have to find an alternative?"

"You haven't changed one bit since last we met, you idiot," I growled at Artorus. "You're still as impulsive and immature as a new padawan."

I then turned to the other Jedi who was giving me a cautious look. It seemed everywhere I went nobody trusted me...but then again I didn't trust anybody either, so that made us even.

"I am Silus Matare," I said curtly. "Now if either of you don't mind, I'd like to find a set of launch codes I heard were being held here. I need them to get off this Force forsaken planet, especially now since Coruscant Security will be here any moment after Artorus here decided to do something stupid...as usual..."

    Artorus

"Since we last met..." I scratched my head, noting the sour look I was getting from him. I scoured my brain for any time I'd met him but came up with a blank. I'd offended a lot of people in my day so it wouldn't come as a surprise to me if I had done something to him once upon a time. "You know guys know what those Mandies would have done to us if they'd had half a chance?"

I finally paid attention to the alarms and then looked at Keyan and this Silus guy. "What launch codes?" I asked then smiled at Keyan. "Wait! Are you here to steal something? You little nemoidian you! The war was good to you!"

    Keyan

"It's not stealing!" Keyan replied, slightly flustered. "It's...giving them to who needs them the most! A Republic senator hired me to get these!" For some reason his excuses sounded more convincing in his head. "Personally I'd rather see these in the hands of someone who's trying to do some good in the galaxy, than in the hands of someone flooding the streets with crime and drugs." He added, for good measure.

Knowing that Artorus was probably seconds away from yet another irritating retort, Keyan turned to face Silus.

"I thank you for your help in dealing with the Mandalorians and while I certainly agree with your opinions of a certain somebody," he cast a quick glance at Artorus, "I'm afraid I need these codes. It's important for the Republic."

I rolled my eyes. The truth was I'd only met Artorus once, at the Jedi Convocation on Tythos years before during the Mandalorian Wars. I could see the brat was still...well, a brat. Just then I heard the sirens of a Coruscant Security speeder approaching and I knew it was time for us to relocate.

"As much as I'm sure all of us would love to continue this conversation, could we do it elsewhere? Such as someplace the Coruscant Security is going to investigate in a matter of minutes?"

"Well, I need those codes, too," I replied. "In case you didn't notice, there's a bounty on all Jedi, and I'd like to find out who posted it.

"In order to do this I need to get off planet, something really difficult to do when Coruscant Security has locked down all interplanetary traffic in this district," I continued. "Now, I'm going to be nice here because we're all Jedi, even though one of us acts more like a spoiled brat than anything else. Please, give me those codes. Once I'm off-planet I'll return them."

    Artorus

I shrugged and nudged one of the dead Mandalorians with my boot. He didn't look like he had anything that I needed. I glanced at Silus and then stood beside Keyan. "I honestly have no idea what Keyan wants with the ship codes...but way I see it, he was here first so he has dibs on the codes. That's the way stealing works...unless that black blade you got there tells us a bit more about your personality than your sense of decoration."

My eyes widened. Coming down the hall were a whole mess of Coruscant security thugs. This made my day. I tugged at my neck...it suddenly felt like there was a tightening noose around it.

"Okay Mr. Silus..." I said. "How about we just run away and decide who gets the codes first? Sound like a deal? I think it sounds like it's a plan a good one...or at least a solid plan that doesn't involve us getting sent to Kessel...or worse."

    Keyan

With the situation agreed on, Keyan looked for a way to escape. Artorus' swoop bike was too badly damaged to be flying any time soon and the grenade he'd used to stop the Mandalorians had had the irritating side effect of destroying their transport as well. And naturally security was heading towards them from the other direction and while they could likely deal with this threat, Keyan did not trust Artorus to do so without lethal force. Plus who knewwhat attitudes to killing this other Jedi had?

"Anyone have any idea about getting out of here?" He asked. "I don't suppose anyone's into the idea of climbing down the outside of the building?"

"What do you take me for?" I replied as I pressed a button on my wrist comm. "Even if I didn't expect to land in this situation, I always leave a 'backdoor' open."

As I said this an airspeeder rose up to the window, summoned by autopilot from my wrist comm. I turned on my heel and took my seat behind the controls just as a stray blaster bolt riccocheted off the hood.

"Stop that ship! Blast 'em!" one of the CoruSec guards yelled.

I turned toward the guards about to storm through the door and used the Force to topple a large granite slab with archaic runes on it over the entrance, effectively blocking it.

"Are you going to stand there all day?" I stated to Artorus and the other Jedi. "Get in!"

"No dice," I crossed my arms. On the other side of the slab we could hear men barking orders at one another and the sound of blaster bolts chipping away at the slab. It wasn't going to take them long to get through at all. Not that I was worried. If I could handle these shlubs then there was no way they stood a chance against both Keyan and myself.

"Keyan we don't know a thing about this guy. Sure he handles a lightsaber but that doesn't mean he was on our side in the war. For all we know he's trying to lure us onto his airspeeder so he can turn us in for the bounty? I say we take our chances with the security guards. Not like we can't take them."

I gave Artorus a "you've got to be kidding" look and rolled my eyes. But it wasn't as if I wouldn't do the same thing; an eye for an eye. I just shrugged and prepped my speeder.

"Last chance," I called from the speeder. "If you want to stay that's fine, but there are alternatives to fighting. Also, I wouldn't count on that being the only CoruSec squad coming after you. From the looks of things, you've attracted quite a bit of attention..."

I pointed with my thumb out the window over to several CoruSec speeders and a gunship coming in our direction. I hid a smirk as Artorus' eyes widened, I loved to see the brat squirm.

"Offer still stands," I repeated. "Going once, going twice..."

"Don't try to scare me," I narrowed my eyes. The CSF gunboats weren't looking for me. It was Keyan and Silus they were after. I had already taken care of my problem. "I've seen lot scarier than you. Take your airspeeder and shove it up your loading ramp."

I didn't have to look at Keyan to know he didn't approve but I didn't need this guys speeder to get out of here and I certainly didn't need his speeder. I turned to the slab he'd placed as a barrier and thrust out my hand. It rumbled for a second and then exploded outward, chunks of it smashing into the guards that were trying so desperetly to get it to break sheer moments earlier.

All but one of them was knocked unconscious by the blast. I quickly rectified that problem by pulling out my blaster and shooting the woman in the chest....set on stun so when all was said and done she was going to actually have less of a headache than her men.

"Look," I said dryly. "A way out."

"Yeah," I replied just as dry. "The long way. Your funeral, I'm gone."

And with that, I took off in my speeder and ignoring the cries of disbelief and anger coming from the other Jedi with Artorus. I felt really sorry that he had to put up with that unbelievable brat. I immediately shoved these thoughts out of my head as I decided to come up with another plan to get off Coruscant. I hated that place so much...

Keyan sighed in irritation. He had only himself to blame. If he'd just jumped in earlier and told Artorus to trust the man, they could have been safe. Still, no sense living in the past. He drew his sabres and took a closer look to see that it was in fact, set to stun. He noted Artorus' defensive look.

    "Just making sure."

"If I didn't know any better," I said as I walked around the unconcious CSF guards. "I'd say you didn't trust me."

I glanced back where the other Jedi had fled to. Now that I had an entire building swarming with guards to get down...his offer didn't seem as dangerous as it had at first. Still...if there were gunboats out there waiting for us then his way would be every bit as perilous.

    "Lets take the lift then."
