I don't know much about CloudFlare but if your concerns are security, it seems it's the way to go. I use Let's Encrypt just because it's at hand and easy to set up in a few commands.

Seeing this post a bit late as ive kept myself busy, But from a developers standpoint on things

I see cloudflares SSL as an oddball situation, as youll share the same SSL IP as many other sites,
But for security and all around IP management they do alright, it seems there are ways around CloudFlares IP hiding techniques which kinda makes their DNS pulling a bit off for me

just throwing out what i know, if youd like i can take an in depth look into what LetsEncrypt does but im not familiar with them

I use it for a VPS, it's easy to install and run, and it's auto renewing these days on most modern setups as well.
It turns your http into https at least, which is a good thing of course. It's not the all in one solution, but it's a great start for most sites.

Unlike CloudFlare it doesn't do ip hiding, etc. But you're also not depending on their network either.

Let's Encrypt - I need to put this on all my domains - we use it at work with a lets encrypt bot to autorenew it each month.

Very excited for the wildcard SSL in January!!!

While IT Central Station does not yet have user reviews for Let's Encrypt, you can find real user reviews for CloudFlare and other major DDoS protection tools on IT Central Station here.

Users interested in CloudFlare also compared them often to Arbor DDoS. You can see a direct comparison between the two solutions here.

I hope this is helpful, and good luck with your search.
