and the two will eventually merge - we're working on it
This is our in-progress privacy policy for our Discord and Minecraft community. We’ve technically had one or a while, but that setup isn’t ideal anymore; Time to start doing better. This is a working draft, but we’re putting it out here to be more transparent.
We follow the guidelines, EULAs, and terms from the services we use, like Discord, Mojang, and Microsoft. Their privacy policies apply to our use of their platforms and services, and by using them, you’re also under their umbrella. So we strive to play by their rules.
We care about your experience in the community. That’s why we’ve spent the last few years improving how we handle data. Some examples:
Only the owner group can access IP addresses: general staff cannot request them. And again, most of the time, we don’t care about them unless something serious is going on.
We don’t sell, share, trade, or hand over your personal data to third parties (see (1) below). We’re not a big tech company that makes you the product. We care about fun, friendships, and fairness, not about building a user db for profit.
# exception (1)
If you’re a repeat rule-breaker or a bot/spammer, we may temporarily firewall your IP. It’s a protection thing. Depending on severity, we might share your uuid and the ban-reason with other server(s) and their owners for their consideration to place a preventive ban.
If you put personal information in your public profile, we (and our tools/plugins) can technically see it. So… maybe don’t? Your name or other details might appear, but we’re not collecting that info into some mega-profile or selling it. Still, keep your privacy in mind when sharing publicly.
Both Discord and Mojang let you change usernames, gamertags, etc. Use that flexibility if needed.
If you’re under 13, you’re not allowed to join. Sorry. We don’t want to deal with COPPA (US) or GDPR-K (EU) regulations. If you're a parent joining with your child, we consider you responsible for their participation.
If someone self-identifies as being under 13, staff will temporarily restrict access until they’re of age. Once they turn 13, they can appeal and rejoin.
We take community safety seriously. Stick to the guidelines. Be mindful of who you interact with and what you share. If someone is targeting or harassing you, message the staff privately. We have zero tolerance for that kind of behavior. We won’t turn it into drama, but we will take it seriously and act appropriately. Your safety and privacy matter.
This post is just a start as we transition from forums to Discord. While nothing here is really new, it hasn’t been officially posted here before.
We may make edits to this privacy policy without formal announcements if they're editorial. But if we make any substantial changes, we will notify the community. Continuing to use our services after such updates means you agree to those changes. If you don’t—no hard feelings, just leave.
Joining and staying in our community means you’ve read, understood, and agreed to our:
...and that you’re not here to cause trouble. If you are, feel free to leave.
