The world is ending! So back up your data.
Ok, but seriously .. Six months have passed, it really is time to consider adding an external disk to your system twice the size of your internal storage and start backing up manually or automatically. On the Mac you can use the Time Machine feature.
Being able to simply restore your data, or to do a fresh install and have access to your archive of data .. is going to avoid headaches and anxiety in the future when you read this post and went meh.
