Amazon KDP Select Vs. Smashwords

For those who have written or are thinking about writing and self publishing an e-book in the near future, please can you explain to me which would be the better service to go with between the above-mentioned two?

I've never used Smashwords. Amazon KDP is pretty good - but it's all about how well you advertise.

For self-publishing ebooks via Amazon (and now they offer print option too) - no initial outlay, makes it very handy for indie authors.

I was thinking about something completely different. You said ebook and it snapped in my brain. Sigh, it's already been over 4 years since I .. nvm, yeah.
