I am sure some of you will have the question what to get next. It is cheaper to get a 2TB big storage HDD drive in your next system. But you keep hearing how SSD is smaller in size and storage, but so much faster.
What to do?

Ask yourself, if you buy a new system, if it has thunderbolt 2 or 3, or usb-3 or usb-c to connect your external drive to: Get SSD. And put the normal drives on the external ports.

If you don't require speed and only require storage, obviously HDD drives are just fine. But they are bigger and slower, and make noise, and eat energy. For a laptop I'd still say SSD is the way to go.

For any /media/ that I want to store, I simply move it to a fast external disk, and I will only put SSD on the inside. My OS will be so fast, my apps will perform so well. Exporting video etc will be so good.

I personally will never buy a system without SSD in it anymore. And If I can afford it, my external drives will be SSD as well. Minus the big 2TB drives for media.
