Yes, the /data/ directory.
Make sure you have the proper read/write permissions set to it.

On the linux cli: chmod -R 0777 data/

Uhm. When you're done uploading an attachment, does it show up under /data/ in one of the sub dirs?

And what about the usergroup permissions for the usergroup you're in?
admin.php?user-group-permissions/2/ (2 = default registered usergroup)

admin.php?tools/phpinfo

go there, search for the gd block, check if you can find it, and if so, if it's enabled?

Then I don't know. Perhaps it's something very simple, but nothing comes to mind right now. Perhaps it's worth opening a support ticket with them so you can share privacy info (such as admin login and ftp) so they can take a look.

After the import, did you go to the admin.php > options > board info, and set the url etc to your site, rather than the import url that we use here? (though if a fresh install doesn't work either.. that shouldn't matter).

wel here is the answer
Mike: (Staff)
Patrick,

This was caused by mod_security rules on your server. I have uncommented the lines in the .htaccess file to disable mod_security and I was able to upload an image.

Alternatively, the Flash-based uploader can be disabled.

Regards,
Mike
