Here
looks like an altar dedicated to the Gods of Chaos.

Do I care? Nope, not in the least, it just occurred to me earlier when I had a visitor and I saw they kept casting sidelong glances at it!

When I moved in with a mistake, and we had a tiny gas fireplace it just didn't match up to the real in the living room fireplace my parents had. Nice and old fashioned, open, and so good in the winter.

Wow! Nice fireplaces :) I am glad you started this thread as I just got a fireplace of my very own. I dont have a shelf or anything over it - its quite a new type and I am still figuring out how to use it. It burns very hot - I would imagine most of my plastic crap would melt anywhere near it

@Floris we had a fake wood gas type when I was a child - it worked very well for warm climates as it didnt burn too hot. But yeah I agree - not like the real thing. And lol at "mistake" I just left one myself.

My fire seems to burn through wood really quickly, but I have only had it on 3 nights so far and only today realised there is yet another switch thing to figure out! I am tossing up my options as to buying another load of wood or just more blankets.
