Redmi 9 MIUI 12

Hey guys!! A friend of mine has just bought this phone Redmi 9 by Xiaomi and he is waiting for the new update as his phone is currently waiting for a new update to roll out from MIUI 11 to MIUI 12, does anyone have any idea when will the new update arrive?

It's been 6 months, but MIUI 12 was released April 2020, six months before the post. I don't know who quickly the hardware catches up to support new releases.
