Wrote a 7000 word story. Now what?

Just for me, I wrote it just for me. So the answer to the title question is not 'publish it'.

But now what? Do I cut it down to a more condensed and maybe more exciting story. Or expand it to a more thrilling story with character building and immerse you even deeper in the world, etc?

I can't leave it as it is now. Something has to be done with it, before I can even share it with the public.

Depends on what the story is and how your storytelling is. Some stories are best left at the length they are, while some could do with more world or character building. There are incredible short stories I wouldn't add a thing to as well as long novels I wish would have been short stories instead.
