XenForo Maintenance Release 1.0.1 Available

Shortly after the first stable release on March 8th, XenForo Limited has processed customer feedback, bug reports and improved developer suggestions. Version 1.0.1 as maintenance release is now available as a free download to all existing customers.

"This release of XenForo 1.0.1 follows our principle that third-point (x.x.X) releases should always be more stable than the preceding version, so for the most part you will not find new features in 1.0.1. New features will be reserved for second point versions (x.X.x).", XenForo Limited.

(XenForo sent out a mailing to all customers)

Of course we strongly recommend you first back up all your databases and files, and other data, then do a full test, and optionally consider contacting the XenFans team if you need help converting from another product to XenForo.

XenForo.com's customer-area offers a full download .zip as well as an optimized upgrade package.

Newly introduced to the maintenance release are, among other improvements and bug fixes:
  • Updated Importer System
  • Multiple Import Sources
  • HTTP 301 Redirect Scripts

XenFans.com has updated its convert service to support version 1.0.1, and our internal development area to support our styles and products. The public web site is scheduled to be upgraded after the weekend.

We are a bit late with following the news of 1.0.1 due to time off, flu and hardware problems at the ISP, but unlike me, @KierDarby doesn't seem to sit still: http://twitter.com/#!/KierDarby/status/60620348403617792 - International customers will enjoy future releases more and more I am sure.

We also like to point out that the mentioned sale of $115 for additional licenses has now expired, and that XenForo Limited is now required to charge VAT for most EU countries. The price of $140 for a license doesn't change, but is exclusive VAT. Also, bulk pricing is now available so if you're planning on investing in a few licenses, you might enjoy a discount.

Maybe not directly related to the 1.0.1 release, but important to a lot of (potential) customers who are considering investing in one or more licenses, there's some good news regarding the claims filed against the company and it's developers. (Source: http://xenfo.ro/7567)

"This morning, the U.S. District Court for the Central District Court of California granted our motion to dismiss the 7th and 8th claims made by vBulletin Solutions Inc. against XenForo Ltd. and Kier Darby.", XenForo Limited.

And we are looking for your feedback about XenForo, our web site, and your own community. Please let us know what your thoughts and experiences are. If you have any questions about the this release, we can write documentation, step by step guides, or create a visual walkthrough video (at no cost) - just let us know.

Have fun installing, upgrading or converting your community to XenForo. XenForo support is free, and available on http://xenfans.com/ - or as official support via xenforo.com
