Fun ways to get more eyeballs on our forums

We're doing a few things behind closed doors to get more people to notice us, but we're not perfect, and our resources are limited. Paying for great advertising simply isn't in the cards.

Do you perhaps know of any fun ways to get more eyeballs on our site that you can think of?

Believe it or not, libraries - stick a bookmark with the site link on it into random books on shelves (pick ones that are checked out often!).

Depends on the kind of site and how eye-catching the ad is.

Also don't advertise Star Wars based forums in Star Trek books and vice versa... wars have started over less

I would totally do that, put star trek and star wars in their mixed corners. And just let them both join the community for some great discussions. teehee
