Picking up a fresh new thread with boring things of "I really have to clean / tidy this, .. " Feel free to participate.

Part 1

Okay, this is more a personal entry than a 'hey look at this stuff' thread, sorry to bore you. I just wanted a way to hold myself accountable and mainly to let me keep track of what I was trying to do today. Who knows, maybe this turns into a thing that we can keep going once or twice a year. In part 1 we've started last October, and that was over six months ago. It is crazy what we've achieved. Thumbsup to everybody that made any progress.

So, let's get started. Whattah we gonna tidy, clean, organize, prepare, think about .. what are we going to achieve today?

POST BELOW what you might do today, cleaning a kitchen? Vacuum the hallway? Tidying up the bedroom? I know, it sounds boring, but indulge me and leave a reply please.

Also, please let me know if you listen to any music, videos, podcasts, have the tv on, or whatever. What's your cleaning routine or equipment preferences, or what do you like or hate to do?

Well I've started to make bread this morning and have washed up the big things from that, it's beetroot bread so the food processor and bowl got used. Still have more to wash but the beetroot coloured stuff have been cleaned. Bread is currently in another bowl leaving to rise.

- Worked on the forums, and on Minecraft.

- Laundry is going, dryer is empty.

- Dishwasher emptied and filled up again. It's running now.

- Dusted a few tiny things, but kept getting distracted.

- Cleaned sink in bathroom.

- Cleaned computer table, scrubbed it proper (minus the area where the router is)

- Updated iOS/iPad and macOS on the devices.

- Moved some boxes around, but they were too heavy for my arm, the muscle hurt. I let it go.

- Dusted off some guitars, realised how dirty they are, i cry inside.

- The coffee corner (as I call it) in the kitchen got scrubbed, I noticed it got dirtier from drips than usual. But realised the draws and doors on it are so dusty- i need warm water scrub, with these shaky eyes that's not a thing to do today without hurting myself - added that task to the todo list.

- Threw away todo lists that were 90% completed. And any item from the lists that I didn't do I revisited and throught about, and let it go or added it to a new list.

- Had coffee, and that made me realise that I have coffee perhaps getting delivered today.

- Deliveries made me realise I needed to order some boxes, did some research and suddenly found something a quarter of the price, but a week delivery. So what, I ordered. I can wait. We will see for $10 if that was a scam (got 3 boxes)

- Tidied up the hallway again so I don't fall behind.

- Charged all my devices.

- Checked mail downstairs, no mail (boo, nobody thinks of me, yay, no bills)

- Threw away 2 trash thingies.

- Replied to all the new content on the forums, haha, sorry.

- Sent an important email to @Nix , let's see if she has time today to read it and follow up.

- Honestly realising I am getting stuck with apartment repairs, I have too much that requires a handy man and I don't know how to do it, and it's super difficult with my bad eyes. I guess I am just overwhelmed. Maybe something to work on this summer. a- try things myself, b- ask roy or fabian to help maybe, and c- call housing company that i pay rent to to ask if a thing or two is covered by them, or if i have to do it myself. If they dont , then d- reach out to companies to get a quote.

My trouble is that I start things in the morning and then have to go to work instead of just getting it all done. By the time I finish work I don't want to do any more.

Totally understandable! Getting home from the grind isn't really an invitation usually go do more work.

Today I will be doing something like micro cleaning ....:D....I will be cleaning my silver jewelry, all glass and mirror surfaces today. Of course the routine dusting and cleaning is inevitable. I will also be making a to do list for my weekend.

This morning I had the plan to start super cleaning things in my apartment, and fight the dust monster. But before I got around and figured out what I might have to add to my grocery list (like mold spray and stuff) I got distracted by the forum software and now suddenly it is midday.

OH WELL.

Meanwhile I have been opening my fresh coffee and made a big jar full of it, it was sooo gooood. And in between all of this I've tried to empty the dishwasher and tidy things up the best I can in the bedroom and I kept the kitchen semi clean. I am not yet falling behind, so I can slack today I guess.

Hopefully tomorrow I have the same motivation early in the morning to make the most of it.

Tonight's food, home made fries (if I don't fail) and some sauce, and .. well, I don't know, let's see what the fridge offers. Maybe chicken sate.

Okay, let me think about this. It's the end of the month and that means June is around the corner and I have to take note of that one little room. There's no way around it now. No more quick cleaning, it's deep-clean time

< none of this is done, this is just me thinking out loud and thinking it through >

- Grab things to throw out and collect them to throw out.

- Throw out collected things.

- Remove everything from that little room to make space for proper cleaning.

- While picking it up, clean the item right away.

- While picking up an item, decide if we keep it, sell it, trash it.

- Throw out what we've decided to trash.

- Put up items to sell and store them in the little hallway.

- The items to keep go to the living room with the rest.

Okay, that should (temporarily) clear the room and give me space to work with things.

- A quick vacuum cleaning of the floor to get the worst (we will get back to this later).

- A quick wipe of any surface (planks, table, whatever) (we will get back to this later).

- Air out the room (close bedroom and other doors, open frontdoor and small-room-balcony door).

- Get rid of any spider webs in corners and corners etc.

- Spray HG bottle stuff in the tough corners (read instructions).

- Rinse and wipe off where sprayed.

- Air out the room again.

- Wipe off the walls, ceiling, and surfaces so it's done better.

- Decide if the room needs to get painted, now that it's empty (will have to adjust todo list if so)

- If I am not going to paint, I will continue as is.

- Scrub, rinse and wipe off any surface area (planks, table, radiator, window and door corners, etc)

- Clean the door (I noticed it has kinda dirty spots on the inside from the cat always rubbing up against it)

- Clean the windows inside and out properly.

- Remove any electronics we no longer need (I mean extended electrical stuff I installed with my dad once)

- Fix any drill-holes etc in the walls (since I still have that stuff and might as well do it)

- Properly vacuum the floor and all the corners, including ceiling, walls and behind radiator, door entrances inside/outside, etc. (told you I'd get back to this)

- Properly scrub, rinse, and swiffer/wipe the floor.

- I have this HG laminate floor treatment stuff, since the whole floor is empty I might as well test it here. If it ruins it, it's at least in this one tiny room.

- Clean and Move the "boerenb-kast" into the room and put it in the right spot.

- If I by now know what I might need for storage in that room, boxes, closets, etc. I need to order these.

- Put the stuff back into the room that I've put in the living room, maybe wipe it off one more time to get rid of dust (in case it's been there for weeks now).

Okay, that should do the trick (very nitpicky) of what I want to achieve in June, tldr; empty room, clean, put items back. The goal is to end up with a clean room that has space for storing other stuff that the movers put in my apartment.

Since I do not know how stress things offline will happen, which is likely - there's still going on that's not resolved. I don't know how much I can and will do. For all I know I end up in bed crying 24/7 for months. But let's be positive and assume life's okay and it will be a nice summer. I will set a goal for June for myself. That's 30 days. Enough to do multiple things per day, but all the things spread over the month. And even if things go well to give the room a fresh new color.

Painting that room will also give me the confidence maybe that I need to do other rooms like hallways, bathroom, etc.

That's a list of 29 things, and painting makes it 30. So technically if I do one thing per day with no breaks than this is achievable. Hopefully there are days I can obviously do multiple things. And that there's days that I don't have to do anything and I can take a break. This should allow me to work on the room in the morning, then go for a bike ride, then come home, shower, do some Minecraft server management, and then have lunch on the balcony and have enough other time to go do other things.

Seems reasonable, doable, right? Hopefully in July I can look back and go 'oh wow, I actually go that far'.

Well I've done a small food shop, mostly for fruit, might've got pringles too!

Started the washing up
Taken the rubbish out, still need to do the recycling.

Decided that I need to bake something today despite the warm weather! Probably going to be flapjack.

Update:

For today I've done very little. I really wanted to do more, but I only have 'kept up' with things, and didn't jump on getting other stuff done. I guess we will try again tomorrow. I've had a lot on my mind, food prep went wrong too, all sorta meh moments. Maybe it's just 'go nap floris' day :)

Haven't done as much as I planned over the last two days. Got a small amount of washing up to do, need to clear the sofa, and put clothes away. But I know that most of this is not going to get done today, just too tired. Also it's already 7pm.

I've done some things, but it's slow. I got some boxes cleaned, I kept the kitchen current, and I've done more in the bathroom.

Groceries got sorted, and the rest of the day was waiting for DHL and doing tiny things here and there. From inside living room to balcony. Not much, but .. i didn't fall behind again.

It's June !

Welcome to what feels is the summer already.

I've been doing Minecraft things when I woke up. And enjoyed a headache.

I have been on the balcony for a while with breakfast, and enjoyed a headace.

It's 10am now and time to start my 30 day clean up thing for that small room.

Welp, let's start with walking to that room right now and see what the damage is, yikes. Reporting back to let you know of any progress.

[edit 30 minutes later]

- Grab things to throw out and collect them to throw out.
0 % - but i took inventory

- Throw out collected things.
0 % - no room yet to review

- Remove everything from that little room to make space for proper cleaning.
25 % - i took inventory while i moved things to the livingroom until there was no room there

- While picking it up, clean the item right away.
10 % - semi done. This stuff was the crap that was recently added

- While picking up an item, decide if we keep it, sell it, trash it.
30 % - took inventory

- Throw out what we've decided to trash.
10 % - what i had in my hands that needed to go, i put in trash right away

- Put up items to sell and store them in the little hallway.
0 % - took inventory

- The items to keep go to the living room with the rest.
25 % - emptying the room fills this.

Tiny progress, my foot, arm and lower back already hurt. Clearly I am in terrible shape.

But the first 30 minutes are done. I will let the pain go away, relax my eyes, and then go back at it.

Problem: I do have some bigger things that need to be thrown out, but I no longer have the thing on wheels anymore. I might have to ask Roy if they still have one (but he's on vacation for a week, so might have to wait)

Another problem: I have a few things I will keep that are big but I don't know where to place that right now. It might have to be in the living room in the way (and just deal with the irritation that it's there)

Time to put a ham cheese croissant in the oven and give myself a pat on the back HAHA. Before I start again and do a few more things. When that is done the floor is empty enough for the first 50% of the room to get vacuumed tomorrow.

[edit 30 minutes later] Now 11 am.. time to put dishes away and get started again.

- Put whatever laundry I had in the washing machine for later.

- Emptied the dryer and put the stuff in the bedroom.

- Few things from the bedroom (laundry) that I could gather up and store I did. Left the rest elone.

- Cleaned the kitchen top a little bit.

- Cleaned coffee machines.

- Okay, back to the little room and move a few more things. Oof.

Update ^^

It's been another 30 minutes, I've been able to do some tedious tasks from that room that I didn't want to do. I've emptied a plank, moved things to the living room, I've gathered up paperwork so it's at least together. I've gathered up games, dvds, cds, music stuff into a box, so that's together. And moved both to a storage room and the living room.

The chair that I had no space for, I just leave the door to the other room open and put it there. Once the little room is cleaner I can put it back there to make room. It won't be in the way too much there.

I am shaky, back hurts, eyes shake like crazy. But I've made progress. I am currently not motivated to keep going. But I also want to. It's weird. Mind over matter pls! :D

The foor, I hope today I will find motivation to find a vacuum cleaner bag (dont know where the last fwe are, ARGH) and start vacuum cleaning what is free right now, which is about 50% (just stuff in the way, but i can move it to 1 corner first)

I've opened the balcony door there 40 minutes ago by the way, so it can air out a bit.

There's a few dead spiders on the floor, ARTGgghgzz

Found my Matrix 1999 12 dvd box set !! haha And a Christmas card from @Nix

Okay, I am having some water and a pudding, and sitting on the balcony in fresh air for 10 minutes now. When the clock hits midday in less than 30 minutes I will go figure out what ONE thing I can do next and just do that and see how my body is.

Final update for today.

I am soooo done. haha, aired out the apartment, finished laundry, dryer, dishwasher, kitchen things, hallways, putting things into the livingroom, and all that stuff. I am ready to do the vacuum cleaning tomorrow and throwing things out.

The legal emails came in, and it ripped me out of my day, I have to deal with that. so pff. stress.

Time for Chicken Korma and giving that a try. And enjoying the evening on the balcony with ipad and some series.

Oh, I also found time to jump on my bike to buy a few cards to send to my mom. And to buy a card to travel by train again. etc.

I am glad I made a start today, I am glad I made some progress, and that I have smoe overview.

2nd of June, another day another dusting.

Before I fall behind the first thing I will do today is no Minecraft maintenance, but instead, keep up with the computer table, flowers, kitchen area, and some other tiny things.

But then it will be the same as yesterday, just trying to get closer to 100% and make proper progress. And I think I mentioned I can move things to the side and start cleaning the floor. I've already got the balcony door open to air the room.

I won't allow myself breakfast, coffee, etc at this point. I want to be productive first.

Back soon.

Update at 9:30am.

Time to realise my back hurts way too much way too quick. I have to go for a bike ride today and get those muscles moving agan.

Anyway, plank is empty properly, ready to be wiped clean. I have moved some bigger things around. Moved stuff from a chair into trash, stuff from the floor on the chair, the chair in the corner, lol. I have more room to vacuum now. Still haven't found the new bag for the vacuum, annoys me.

I have filled a bin liner up with crap, I've moved paperwork that I found with the rest from yesterday.

A corner is now empty, the old chair is moved outside, and when I throw trash out, I will walk twice, including getting rid of the chair.

I found old tech, I reviewed what I will NEVER use again and is worth like $5 tops to sell but probably can't sell, And decided to throw it out. All the other tech stuff I've put together in the tech box.

A few guitar things found, I put that in the guitar drawer that I have.

Some books are moved to a pile of books.

The next step after this break for today is to find vacuum bag, then vacuum that half so I feel better about doing the walls next, before moving the other half of the room to the then-cleaner area. And repeat all this.

I can't believe I am doing this just so I have room to fill up it up with stuff so I can repeat this in a year again. lol.

The dishwasher is done I think, it didn't have a lot, but I will empty it and right away fill it up and start it up again. So I am up to date on that.

I also have to do that bike ride, and do food prep, so my day is full enough. I will go do a few tiny things now and at 10am in bout 20 something minutes I will start pushing again.

It sucks doing this, but it feels good to already see some progress, it feels like what I need to do this month is possible.

still airing

and update on this

- Grab things to throw out and collect them to throw out.
50% done

- Throw out collected things.
25% done

- Remove everything from that little room to make space for proper cleaning.
50% done

- While picking it up, clean the item right away.

15% done, still have stuff to throw out

- Put up items to sell and store them in the little hallway.
0% done

- The items to keep go to the living room with the rest.
45% done

Ok, so day 2 progress, on schedule, maybe even ahead a little bit. The floor will be a problem to deal with, it has spots that need attention.

The vacuum bag, i found one! I put in little beads that help with the smell (especially made for this) and I've vacuumed the kitchen, livingroom, and two hallways pretty quick. And then the little room the best I could, but that floor really needs attention. My eyes aren't too great so I have to take a break and then come back for the nitpicking in the ledges, corners, and hard to reach places. Then it will be 40% properly done.

Airing the place out so it doesn't smell like cleaning stuff and vacuuming. Which is really nice without a cat to be honest (i really miss sasha!) and especially nice with this weather.

PFFF, so much to do, sorry for typing so much, i dont assume people really read it in detail. It's more for me that I can hold myself accountable and get a mental overview without feeling overwhelmed. It's good to notice progress.

Coffee is brewing and 10:35 am now, time for breakfast. I hope being active without breakfast eats at least 1 calorie, and that breakfast now will give me an energy boost to keep going.

Next on the agenda is the nitpicky vacuuming and throwing the chair out, a box, a computer, and the now full bin liner. It's a few trips downstairs, i dun wanna with my back.

Best of luck everybody also doing something, be it work, work at home, etc.
