This is the first of two questions that we have for the upcoming Autumn update. And it's a pretty important player setting that I want to discuss with you guys.

Caveat:
For "yes, keep inventory" to pass, I require at least 6 votes for it.

Current situation:
When a player dies on the -live- server, their inventory will drop to the floor. This gives certain mobs the chance to make survival harder. Allowing them to blow up your items, and/or pick it up. We try to keep it fair by allowing players to /back without a delay, so they don't run the risk of items despawnings, and allowing a chance to fight the mob that stole an item, to get it back.
This setting of 'keep player inventory on death?' is set to false (no, do not keep it, it drops when they die)

This poll is to open a discussion if we should reconsider this, and allow players to keep the inventory when they die. If you want to share an opinion, please feel free to do so. If you think we should or should not keep the inventory then please vote on the poll.

Upcoming situation:
If there are six or more votes for "yes, please, let us keep our inventory when we die!", it will pass and at some point this year we will make this change to the player options. If 5 people vote yes, and 1 person votes no, it will not pass. Again, six votes or more are required.

Second question:
Please post below if you think that IF we keep our inventory on death, should we also instantly respawn (instead of having to click the respawn button)? In order for this player setting to pass, I want to have at least a couple of opinions from people. So please share yours.

Personally I like the difficulty of trying to get your things back from an area or mobs, so my vote is definitely no. It would just be too easy and death wouldn't be a fear at all. Perhaps make it optional?

As for instant respawn, that seems fine to add. Some people still have issues respawning if they're lagging hard.

Yeah, I don't know how I should vote for this. Personally, especially with the /back, it isnt a huge issue. RN though, its a different story. With the lag, I know its causing some players some issues. They die without even realizing it, and lag so hard, it becomes a pain to get their items back.. Possibly untill if/when the lag is resolved, make it an option for players? Wouldn't know how difficult to code that would be, but, yeah. I know player Diamondpuppy was having issues last week with the lag and dying. But in the future? I don't think its really necessary.

Personally I would love to keep inventory, because it's just convenience. But like you said, if we have /back and it's instant, for all groups, Then I don't see the problem. If /back gets a cooldown or removed, then I want it, because I don't want to lose my unique items. I agree that it's part of survival, .. TOUGH CHOICE.

As of with the lag, I'd say yes.. because I know the pain of dying and losing stuff.. but otherwise no, since with the /back is fairly quick to get those items back, unless of course you were like swimming in lava. It gives that survival aspect that is expected, but with lag it sorta break thats cause you could disconnect or go over the despawn limit, I'd say if anything, a temporary keep inventory till the lag quits.

Great arguments and explanations by everybody so far, thank you for taking the time. Keep it up!

The lag is hopefully a temporary issue. I am getting almost no solutions offered from the hosts involved, it's super frustrating.

I personally like to keep the inventory. But having /back is definetly a help. I'm in between opinions now. I'm with Emma!

What have you guys decided then? :)
Yep, we're going to continue what we have, and not turn on keep-inventory. There've been no players wishing it was on, we've got some good arguments to leave it as it is. And the lag issue was already resolved, so there's no reason to temporary toggle it.

We have instant /back to get stuff. And when people die we save their inventory, so worst case scenario we 'could' make an exception.
