SO apparently different countries have different age ratings for the same tv shows and movies.... what the hell is that all about?

Noticed this today on Netflix on a show that really really should be an 18 but apparently in the Netherlands it's only a 12!!!!!

I'm sorry but BDSM should be adult/18 only in my opinion. What are your thoughts on different ratings for different countries?

16+ is fine. they weren't showing anything.
but 12+ is certainly kinda wrong.

show me a mom who is fine with watching their 12 year old kid watching someone get a cum shot in the eye.

The American R rating is odd, as it's not a rating, anyone can see it with an adult I think. I always thought it was an 18 rating but it's not.

I've emailed to press of Netflix account, and just like Twitter, no official response. I guess they're ok with it.
