I really need someone to tell me how to get "latest posts" in the side bar....
My members are not happy it is not there anymore.

Anyone?

Also, I really need to filter the "whats new" and be able to remove certain rss forums from there.

There is a portal addon that has a sidebar with latest posts, perhaps an idea to consider going with the portal addon?

The portal add on is XenPorta and it has a latest threads block on the portal like this:

Sorry, didn't realize the difference. I tend to not use plugins, not familiar with the specifics of it.
But can't users just click on: http://xenfans.com/watched/threads or http://xenfans.com/find-new/threads or http://xenfans.com/recent-activity/ ?

easy way is to use the widget framework.
there are several different widgets for that
