Do You Cook?

People seem surprised that I cook so much as I live alone, do you cook everyday? I usually make two portions of a meal, and that's what I'll have, so day two isn't as much cooking, but I do cook pretty much everyday. Tomorrow I'll make the pie filling for two pies (chicken and leek) but I'll do the extras and the pie lids (ready made puffy pastry) each day.

It is easier when you live alone to just say 'eh whatever', and make a sandwich or order out. Or to spend too much money on food.

Portion control, prepping your food, etc. It's an effort, but it's worth it.

Yeah I cook, but I cook what I know I can do well and is low risk of screwing up. I should really broaden my comfort zone.

Yes I know how to cook and how to use the kitchen. In my opinion every person should learn the basics in case of any kind of emergency.

I always try to watch a kitchen basics video when I see it. There's enough times people show you how to detect if food is raw, or how to hold a knife. Or they share their experiences storing foods, etc. Viewing things like that multiple times from different content creators makes it 'normal', and when I go make and store, eat and prepare food etc. I use what I've learned. Or at least I try to. I am more aware of the simplest things and it's helping stay safe and be smart about it all.
I agree, learn some basics people! :D

I love to cook. Actually it is an art. I feel great when my family appreciates the food that I prepare for them. I have even tried out Indian curries and they have come out so well. If we know the basics, it is easy to follow any recipe. Chinese dishes also have caught my fancy. I always wonder why history of cooking is not taught as a subject in schools. It would be wonderful to learn how each era influenced cooking styles of a geographical region.

I would like to try my hand at cooking and I did try once or twice but didn't get encouragement from family members probably because my cooking was bad. I do like to watch live cooking shows but then that is it. No live cooking for me.

I would love to learn how to make indian curry, I've started to really crave and enjoy really spicy foods and indian curry is delicious. I want to make it at home. I need to learn what spices and herbs to get, how to make it and not burn it haha.

What has really helped me is to just make the same thing a bunch of times, and focus on one thing at a time. I am not a great cook, but what I can make I can now make pretty well. I am confident from experience and that means I know when it goes well, wrong, and when I can improvise and what I can do to take a dish to the next level.

Basic cooking skills like prepping, understanding timing, and even things like holding a knife and cleaning up while you cook. It gives you less stress and you have more time to clean up and more time to prepare and cook and do it well.

The more you get familiar with certain things you can do really well, the easier it is to scale it up to a family dish, or to add other things on the side and get away with it not being perfect because the main dish is just really good.

Don't let family discourage you, but invite them to help you while you cook - that way they also feel they can't complain about it because they're the ones who partially made it.

I like eating spicy food specially Korma. In Pakistan and India it is very popular dish for any special occasion. I love to cook this at home with various spices, yogurt and coriander. I enjoy cooking this for my family for having them eat it with joy.

Excellent, I see lots of Dutch people with Chicken Korma recipes and amazing youtube videos .. this looks like something I can do. Almost all the ingredients are things I really enjoy. This is going to be a fun cooking summer season.

I wouldn't cook when family was around, mainly as I'm a messy cook, however I love cookbooks and Pinterest so usually will find a recipe I like the sound of, that has easy ingredients aka ones I know, and give it a go.
There's a lot of simple meals you can do though, and it doesn't have to be completely from scratch. Start simple, breakfast is a good place to start you can get in the kitchen early, and make pancakes, or do eggs in a different way.

Messy cook? I was too, but I've learned to clean up as I go. It was a bit tough to learn, but especially when you cook something that you know, you are aware of the little extra minutes here and there that you can wait. I use those to gather up stuff, move it out of the way, wipe off the counter top and rinse out some stuff. Put things in the dishwasher, etc. Even if it's 2 things, it's less messy and easier to finish the dish with less stress.

Yeah i love to cook. I cook mostly pakistani and turkish dishes.
We have a lot of Turkish places in my town, I enjoy trying out things I don't know from them. Pakistani food? I'd love to give it a try.

Chicken Korma was delicious, I can't wait to have it again. In fact, maybe I will have it today. And I might go for chicken curry tomorrow, with a side of white rice.
