I'm currently (literally as i'm writing this) listening to the new Linkin Park album. Not as good as the others, but still worth listening to.

I had been hearing this several times already, on a TV show, radio station and in my neighbor's radio.

I'm listening to a used CD that I bought today (for only 99 cents!) of LL Cool J from the late 80's. The CD is titled "Walking With A Panther." I haven't heard the whole CD yet. But so far, I like it.

I went for a long drive in Maine today, and I listened to the radio the whole time. Hence, I am not listening to anything right now. Right now I've heard enough of Top 40 songs. I need a break! - until tommorrow, that is.

My iPod got wet and may very likely be totally fucked. If that ends up being the case, I'm going to be very very pissed off. But this is the album I've been playing frequently. Loving it. Formerly this band was viking metal, and pretty cliched to boot. On this one and the one preceding they took it in a more extreme direction, dropping a lot of the frivolous folk instrumentation and cheesiness and introducing themes and lyrics primarily inspired by the European "dark ages"

Still haven't heard their latest, primarily because the vocalist and one of the guitarists left and they recruited someone new to provide vocals and decided to make due with a single guitarist. I've heard a fair amount of criticism about it, but to be fair that's mainly from fans of standard viking fare such as Turisas, later Tyr, etc, not that there's anything wrong with that, but I got my fill of the gimmick back when i was fifteen.

I'm now listening to the video Fetter posted. I can't help but think that this could be better with folky influences.. like apocalyptica or something. Definitely a violin at least :)

I've got to disagree, the metal scene is totally oversaturated with "folk" metal utilizing violins, jaw harps, accordion, etc, that are totally redundant since they could be removed and it wouldn't affect the music one way or another.

There are exceptions of course.

It's dawn here, the birds are singing and it's so serene that I must retaliate with Metallica - For Whom The Bell Tolls.

Screw you, serenity!
