Seed potatoes are apparently in short stock this year, I haven't yet looked in the garden centre.

Just to make sure I do stay somewhat paranoid I'm listening to 1984.

After my week without hot water, I've stocked up on baby wipes, so useful when you can't have a shower.

I also need to go through my first aid kit still if anything is close to being out of date. Its the one I keep in the car. I did restock the car sweet bag though! I don't tend to keep food in the car, but do like to keep some mints or sweets there as a just in case.

I need to sort out my first aid kit too as I found out last night with a bloody mess!!

Ordered a new at home first aid kit.

Decided that by next winter I want to get a few more things sorted.

Car:
An automatic type pump, one that you plug it and it pumps them up.

A battery starter kit, bit more expensive but jump starting a car relies on someone else being around and with this I could do it myself.

De-icer/washer fluid/oil, get extras of the essentials.

Home:

More base layer type of tops, more thermals

New hot water bottles, I'd like a new long one and a neck one.

Blankets sorted out, and if possible to get wool/natural fibres ones.

My surveys paid out so I'm all stocked up on fans! I know it's freezing now, but they're always cheaper to get in the winter. Got 2 usb ones, a neck one and a desk one that also has lights on it. So extra lights if we do have a power cut too.

Had an email from national grid about preparing for power cuts, and then all the talk about 72 hour preparedness. So yeah, I'm back thinking about all that.

The news is not making me less anxious, and I barely read or listen to it.

So I've got my power bank on charge, and bought another candle! Well I also bought more cans of tuna and other stuff, so at least I can have some odd sandwiches if the power does go out.

Water is an issue though, I do have water bottles in the fridge, but it's storing water that's the problem.

Can someone remind me not to buy more tuna, because I had forgotten that I had already bought a 4 pack, so bought another 4 pack!

I know my biggest issue is keeping on top of the cleaning. If we had a severe power cut then I've got to navigate the floordrobe and kitchen in the dark!

First Heathrow Airport and now a power cut on the Underground. Yeah, I'm keeping everything charged up

Aldi has first aid kits in for £4.99, they're called car kits, and since I did buy a first aid kit recently, I will put this one in the car.

I've used up the stock that has 2024 dates but should be fine for another year, but, i dont want to wait a year. It's 2025 already anyway. And I've started using the stock for 2025.

Of course, I made really sure that it's fine. If I had any doubts about looks smells, or can damage, I threw it out.

Everything I have left now is 2026/2027, so I have a bit more to go.

I have to say, i invest a bit, and try to use great deals, but I thankfully didn't "need" it, the stock is just handy for daily meals, or when I am sick for a week and dont want to deal with groceries. But covid wise or world dangers etc, or just inflation super high and it no longer being in stock in the store: none of that was a reason to start using the stock.

So I am worried about this ukraine and nato situation, so i will try to keep water, batteries and a few other off hte grid essentials, but beyond that I dont think i will worry too much about keeping a stock going. I will just keep an eye out for amazing unique deals and when tension goes up again I will try to get some extras.

But any discount i benefitted from is probably equal to some waste or 'just not as good as fresh food and you pay a bit more'. So i can't say it's super worth it.

Of course, I am grateful that we didn't end up in a situation where stores were zombie stores and worlds are in war and we had no food or power for weeks. And I hope i can say the same in 5 years from now.
