The boring thread of: I have to really clean a few things (part 1)

Dun dun dun, the last week has started.

My agenda is basically like this now:

Sunday 22nd, tidy up visually, because after a week of living in my apartment it is obviously slowly piling up.

Monday 23rd, airing out the apartment, cleaning toilet, and double checking that everything they need access to is indeed available to them.

Tuesday 24th, first appointment at my place, they will be here in the morning. Once they're gone, I am going to enjoy not doing anything else that day besides trying to finalize the tests for the Minecraft December events.

Wednesday 25th, making sure the areas they need access to are available, finishing cleaning the toilet since they need access to the vent system there. And the rest of the day I finalize the Minecraft Thanksgiving event.

Thursday 26th, make sure the Thanksgiving event is running every 2 hours. And finalize any tidying up / cleaning I have to , such as the bathroom, maybe do a bit more on the bathroom ceiling, and the kitchen has to be wiped down. I cook where they need access to the vent system. I can't have it be greasy there from cooking the night before.

Friday 27th, last appointment of the month at my place. Also in the morning. The afternoon is me turning off the Thanksgiving event in Minecraft, and installing the plugins for the December events, then doing nothing the rest of the day.

Saturday 28th, Discord Town Hall Meeting, and setting up and live-testing one of the few December event things. Making sure there's information about it on the Forums here at OMG

Sunday 29th, Updating the forum info about december stuff, and doing an @ everyone to let them know beforehand it's starting soon. And prepping the 2nd thing for december event. Do nothing in my apartment, maybe go to my mom for chinese dinner.

Monday 30th, do nothing in my apartment, do the final touches on the december event.

------------ now that i have that overview, hopefully it goes like this. I am sure something will ruin it.

Anyway, for now, i am up early, woke up two hours ago. Actually slept okay. I can afford taking a nap later today. So I am going to do some work in the kitchen and livingroom today. I've started with watering the plants, tidying up the tea corner, computer table, and coffee corner. I've boiled some water and letting that just stand there to get the humidity level up in the apartment a bit. It's colder, dryer, not good for my throat.. oh, and made tea.

I've emptied and tidied up the entrance hallway and put the bike back there. I've put the chairs around the livingroom table and threw away the stuff on there that was packaging etc.

The guitars are back in their place, and I have some office chairs kinda all over the place. That's next.

The couch is fine, 50% of the kitchen is fine. I just have to do the area left of the sink and make breakfast.

There's trash, and some boxes, that's 2 runs. I have to do 1 run today, and 1 run tomorrow. So no problems there.

The bedroom is a matter of putting some blankets on the bed and make it look tidy, and the laundry is all dry and I can put that away today.

The only thing I didn't do on my huge todo list this month was the tech room and a mini storage room. I will simply decline them access to it. If I wake up from my nap later and feel motivated I can go in and start tidying up there, maybe do some cleaning. But I know I won't finish by Tuesday morning. So, not going to stress over it.

Okay, everything in my brain is on paper. I can let it go now, and it feels like I can manage all this. I keep my sanity a bit longer.

Update:

Had breakfast and basically lunch. I am full.

Cleaned the toilet a bit so it's still nice and clean.
Rinsed out the sink in the bathroom.
Cleaned up some bags and things I can't place anywhere and stuffed them in a corner.
Worked on the Minecraft worlds.
Where the guys need access to Tuesday is all double checked, all nice I think.
Kitchen is not 70% done. Just need to keep at it.
A little bit to do in the livingroom, that's next after this coffee break.
I noticed I have enough laundry that I can maybe do another run tomorrow.
I should have time today to at least take a look at the storage room and pick out a few things that need to get thrown out. So I've made a start I guess.

Yesterday living room was gutted and made tidy and clean, so that's now ready for Christmas decorations!
Today I have the food shopping turning up. Have to get Abbs ready for school tomorrow, so uniform ready etc. I have a wash load in the machine at the moment. I might potter about in the kitchen today doing washing up etc.
Tomorrow I want to gut the kitchen and put the clothes washing away there will be loads by tomorrow! Might put up the outside lights and fix the security/street lights tomorrow on mine and my neighbours house.

My deadline for the house is Thursday because I want to get Christmas up on Friday which will take all day to do!

Nice job on the living room nix, and yay for christmas decorations. Maaaybe you can help me in December, MAAAYBE. I am slowly getting into the xmas spirit.
Sunday delivery? hm interesting.. i wonder if they do that here. Yeah do some little tasks here and there, they are easy to split up and once done it feels better.
More laundry tomorrow :/ - with the amount of shenanigans in your town recently, i dont blame you- security gets priority.

Update:

OMG! how do you get the motivation to do all that cleaning? I have been procrastinating for like 4 weeks now! I have like a week pile of washing to do! I thought i would do it this week, but somehow i got distracted by a sudden inflow of client's request. I have to finish the clients jobs first!

And that will take me, well, another 1 week! So am not cleaning anything (ok, at least i will shower), for the next 1 week :-)

Today's task is the kitchen and putting clothes away! Sounds like nothing but omg you should see the state of my kitchen haha! Also have to prep some postage parcels (clothes returns and a present for my bestie Ellie).

Then got to try and get a lift to the post office!

The motivation is that others being here gives me social anxiety a bit, and I get nervous that my head is too full about how nice other homes are and mine's a mess or dirty. So I feel I have a deadline to reach. On top of regular cleaning, I had to sit down and focus and figure out what needed attention. And it worked. This thread helped me keep my sanity haha. I've got only today, then tomorrow people show up. Then it's finally over. Well, 2 more days and more ppl show up, but this shouldn't explode between now and then.

Hopefully this thread motivates you to get up and pick up some dirty cups and put them in the kitchen. And then the next time you're in the kitchen you wash them. And at some point you get there and put them away if not right away. Baby steps can lead to a tidy workplace. Which mentally really helps. Plus, all the little times you get up from the chair is healthy too. Instead of being like me, idle behind the computer haha.

Doing something on the computer and then taking a 5 minute break to stretch the legs and tidy things. After a week you've done more than nothing at all. You will start noticing the difference. And changing what's on your mind makes it more fun to sit down and pick up work again rather than feeling you got a pile of work to do.

Best of luck with the kitchen. It is a daily task isn't it? haha :D stupid kitchen. I vote for eating elsewhere and never eat at home again. Change the kitchen room into a computer media room :D

Update!

The little sink in the toilet-room was clogged and had water in it. The attempt to put that cleaning stuff in there and some liquid to make it go FPPDFOPROPFOP and then it's fixed.. FAILED.. So today I had to scoop the water out, and then clean it the best I can. So visually at least it looks okay haha. I will fix it another day I guess.

The sink in the bathroom is cleaned properly again now, so when they come in a few days and I forget about it, it's fine...

The outside windows in the livingroom are done. When you walk into the apartment that's so clearly visible with the low fall sunrays hitting it. Sidenote: I hate cleaning windows when I am in a bit of a rush job. lol. Brr it was so cold.

Tidied up the livingroom, just making sure whatever i did is in the right spot. I guess.

The kitchen is 90% done now. I just have to wipe off the walls after cooking so it stays clean.

Put the sheets over the bed now that they're all nice and clean. So it looks better.

Only dishes I have left tonight is what I used during dinner. So I can do that at 6 in the morning and after hour it's done. So not worried about that. Any laundry I can just stuff in the washing machine and nobody will see it haha

I've done some minecraft maintenance.. and I've had lunch with nix on a call haha. And I've moved the rice boxes into the ordered jars I've spoken about. So that looks a little nicer too. And less chance of moisture etc getting into it.

Talking about amazon.. I have gone through all the stuff I paid for and looked at what got delivered. It looks like everything has shown up.

I am pretty sure after these last few weeks that I have inhaled enough bleach etc that covid doesn't have a chance. haha.

I can't believe this thread will perhaps end in early december, as the appointments are behind me soon (24th / 27th) and the rest is just regular daily cleaning and not this nitpicky stuff with a deadline.

After my tv binge I'm back way behind on the cleaning, just put a load of washing in the machine, so that's something done. Probably have a better go at cleaning tomorrow, get the kitchen back in order.

Maybe it is just me but I love cleaning and organizing. Right now, my husband and I are renting a small space but I am hoping to buy a house with my husband next year. We really don't have much room where we are so it is hard to stay clean and organized. I loved glancing through your pics though of your progress. The desk looks especially tidy!

Tuesday morning, another appointment.

Got up in time, haha! So groggy.. but I had a nice shower, airing out apartment and tidied up while waiting. They're supposed to be here between now and 12, we will see.

The 27th is a weird one. The paper didn't mention to verify appointment. But last night I saw on the BACK it had a single line saying that if you dont verify the appointment that they won't show up. Ugh.. I've emailed them, but will also call them today.

Ha, I just woke up and had tea myself.

I've tried to catch up on some sleep. Some health problems are giving me a bit of anxiety and distracting me from being positive etc. So, trying to refocus.

Today is one of two days I can finalize the areas that the guys have to get access to that show up on the 27th. Thankfully the apartment is basically in good standing. But I still have plenty to do, it never stops right? I also have to go through the todo list and things I've said in the last few weeks as I don't wish to forget something so obvious.

This thread and my little todo list really helped.

Well I've had coffees and had my nails done so far today. Next on the agenda is the kitchen!

Nice! Have fun today, and tell everybody to stop making a mess in the kitchen haha.

Sometimes I wonder if all the money I spend each year on food buying, storing, and cleaning and rest, is really that much cheaper than moving into a hotel for a year and letting others make my breakfast, and clean my room. lol.

Oh well :)

All the November appointments are done now! (i am free yay)

I've achieved almost everything that I wanted to do. Thanks to you guys and this thread. I didn't get to do one room.

Nix might understand this, sorry if others don't but; I finally feel I have my apartment to a "almost 4" score. So mentally that's something I can deal with. The next step is to dive into those last 2 rooms for a proper organizing, cleaning, and tidying up. And then nitpicking everything in the other rooms, while keeping up with whatever has been done now.

It will happen again, but, I hope I don't fall behind.

Since I got so used to keeping track doing the extra cleaning, I thought I'd keep it going at least for today.

This morning I finally slept okay again, I am mentally in a bit of a better headspace.

I've ordered some stuff the other day from Amazon (cleaning things, etc) that were on mega sale due to black friday weekend. They started showing up tomorrow and will continue tos how up the coming days. I've started organizing and thinking about how to split it up and use it smartly to make the most of it.

Meanwhile I've been trying to keep up with dishes, laundry, and showering, etc. I need to wash the swiffer thing that I mop the floor with, it's pretty dirty now and I need to do the livingroom and kitchen floor again soon.

A new todo list has been started. Slowly writing down the things that I didn't get around to and need to do again. Only benefit now is that I don't have a deadline.

I've put boxes in boxes, trash in trash, and collected things that need to be moved from upstairs to downstairs and different rooms. A start has been made I guess.

The kitchen I've tried to keep clean, even during cooking. And cooking I did! I've made a start making an italian tomato meat sauce and portioned it in 4. And it's more than plenty for when I cook different pastas.

I've added the veggies and put the portions in zipbags and let it kinda cooldown, before trying to remove most of the air and storing it in a box in the fridge. Now I can use some cheap macaroni and boil that for eight minutes. I can use those eight minutes to heat up one of these four sauce portions. Then use the remaining time to add grated cheese to it, or make a salad. Or add a fried egg or something.Quick ten to fifteen minute evening dinner making. And if there's sauce and pasta left, I just have a nice lunch the next day I guess. So hopefully this will be almost worth a week of dinners spread over two weeks.

Honestly hoping this demotivates me from going for a quick bite, or take out food or something less healthy.

Anyway, the kitchen needs a wipe down now, and new dishes will go into the dishwasher tonight with the rest. I've already emptied out the dishwasher and I've tried to nitpick the cupboards I have so things look 'nicer'. And I've added it to my todo list again to figure out which cups, mugs, glasses, plates etc I don't want to keep here and move them to storage.

Back, sorry, was gone for 5 minutes, I just made like 15 bits of post-it papers with todo items for each room. OMG, it's always worse than you remember. haha, I got enough to keep me busy the next year.

Okay, back to posting this, and I will spend the next 15 minutes just doing some small tidying up things and one thing from that list. So glad I don't have a deadline. But it's nice to invite family this Christmas, or have the place cleaner even more for my birthday in January, etc.

I am rambling, bye. :)

I hate myself. haha. I've just tried to make something to eat, and 75% of that process I've been wiping surfaces, throwing away packages, started laundry and dishes, organize cupboard, blah blah. Don't tell me I now can't stand it when I leave something unfinished in the kitchen. Oh well.

It was supposed to be snowing all day here, so I decided today would be the day to get the cleaning done, no snow, but I have made a dent in the washing up, done a load of laundry and stripped the bed. Next up, put the fresh set of bedding on the bed and finish cleaning the kitchen, need to sweep and mop the floor too.

Yep - same here!

The battery on the mini christmas tree went out, and that's a sign. I have to get up and start tidying up a bit in that christmas corner and move things away and clean up. I don't mind if that takes me a week.
